As the debate over legalizing the use of recreational cannabis in Illinois heats up at the Capitol, State Senator Don DeWitte (R-St. Charles) is hosting an informational forum on Monday, May 13 to give residents the chance to learn more about the topic.
The event, which will be held in St. Charles, will consist of presentations from individuals on both sides of the issue. State Senator Heather Steans (7th District) will provide information on her proposed legislation to legalize cannabis in Illinois, and Patrick Kenneally (McHenry County State’s Attorney) will provide facts and information gathered by his office.
Sen. DeWitte encourages all constituents who are interested in the topic to attend.
“I know my constituents have many questions about legalizing marijuana, and I still do too,” said Sen. DeWitte. “This event is solely to provide information as we all continue to determine our opinions on the matter. It is my hope that constituents come with an open mind no matter what side of the debate they may lean toward.”
